“Max by Marcel” (dir. Marcel Ophüls, France 2009, 79 min.)
The Max and Marcel film project presents the oeuvre of two outstanding film-makers, father and son, Max and Marcel Ophüls, who used their generational and biographical experiences as a material in their own art. The work and lives of both these artists cover both the culture of the twentieth century in a number of surprising cross-cultural meetings and providing a place for dialogue of Jewish, German, French, American and Russian culture (the latter through a set designer and painter Yuri Anennkov, who worked with both Ophülses).
The first day of the film project “Max and Marcel” will start with the film “Max by Marcel”. This is a short document by Marcel Ophüls about his father, made in 2009.The screening will be followed by a debate.
